Super Visa Insurance for Parents and Grandparents

Bring your parents or grandparents to Canada for longer visits with Super Visa medical insurance that meets IRCC requirements. We compare plans from several Canadian insurers and help you choose the right coverage and deductible.

What is a Super Visa?

The Super Visa lets parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens and permanent residents visit for much longer than a regular visitor visa. Visitors can stay for up to 5 years at a time, and the visa can be valid for up to 10 years.

Super Visa insurance requirements

To apply, your parent or grandparent needs private medical insurance that:

  • Is from a Canadian insurance company, or a foreign insurer approved by the Government of Canada
  • Has at least $100,000 in emergency coverage
  • Covers health care, hospitalization and repatriation
  • Is valid for at least 1 year from the date of entry to Canada

Monthly payment options are available with many Super Visa plans, so you do not always need to pay the full year up front.

What a good Super Visa plan includes

  • Emergency hospital and doctor care
  • Prescription drugs prescribed in an emergency
  • Ambulance services
  • Emergency dental care after an accident
  • Repatriation if the worst happens
  • Options for stable pre-existing medical conditions

How we help

  • Compare Super Visa plans side by side, including price, deductible and pre-existing condition coverage
  • Prepare the insurance documents you need for the application
  • Help with renewals each year your parents stay in Canada
  • Explain refund rules if the visa is refused or the trip ends early

Frequently asked questions

How much does Super Visa insurance cost?

The price depends on age, health, coverage amount, deductible and whether stable pre-existing conditions are covered. Call us for a quote based on your parents’ details.

Can I pay for Super Visa insurance monthly?

Yes. Many insurers now offer monthly payment plans that meet IRCC requirements. We can show you which plans allow this.

What if the Super Visa is refused?

Most insurers refund the premium if the visa application is refused, as long as you provide the refusal letter. We will explain the refund rules for each plan before you buy.

Do pre-existing conditions affect coverage?

Many plans cover pre-existing conditions that have been stable for a set period, often at a higher price. We help you compare these options so you are not caught out.

Immigration requirements can change. Always check the latest Super Visa rules on the Government of Canada (IRCC) website before applying.
